In the not too distant future
a large corperation called Ecliptico has pretty much become the world superpower
by dirty means. A small rival company has now cracked the secret of fusion
power and wants to rebuild earth but ofcourse Ecliptico will have none of
that and has stolen the plans. Zeewolf is the name of the attack helicopter
with which you must take out Ecliptico and retrieve the stolen plans.
The game takes place as a mission a time and these include simple things
like destroy this and that but sometimes you will have to rescue POW's or
escort a vehicle. The gameplay somewhat reminds me of desert strike but
Zeewolf is made up of completely 3D vectorgraphics which is not as detailed
as spritebased graphics but it moves a lot more fluently. Also there is
a fair bit of strategy involved as you are up against an enemy which greatly
outnumbers you.
You have several different missiles and guns at your disposal when fighting
enemies which you can resupply during a mission from a friendly ship. You'll
have to pay for it though because you are a mercenary and the amount of
money you make depends completely on how well you do.
The controls take a bit of getting used to as helicopters move forward by
flying downwards, the mouse controls mimick this quite well but they are
very hard to get used too. The joystick controls are a lot easier to learn
but they don't give you as much control.
Zeewolf graphically looks a lot like a game called virus but adds a lot
more action and strategy. Once you get used to the controls you'll be flying
around blasting bad guys like there is now tomorrow and earning your paycheck
while doing it. There's more strategy involved compared to desert strike
while still giving a lot of high quality shoot'em up action and also a good
so you can't really go wrong with that.
