Carmen Sandiego is a wellknown
name as there have loads of books, movies, series and games released by
that name. The story always revolves around an ACME agent who has to stop
and capture Carmen Sandiego who's always up to no good. While the adventure
continues you get to learn about the subject of that particular book or
game like geography, history and later many more subjects.
Where in Europe is Carmen Sandiego? is obviously about the European continent
and you are always taken to the country where a spectacular theft has been
comitted like the theft of an entire mountain top. You must then gather
clues about the suspect such as haircolor that you have to record in your
warrant, you have to get this right or else the suspect will walk once you
catch him! If you search the area or question people you get clues where
to go next, some of these clues are quite easy like a certain city but others
will require more thought like an item which is often exported by certain
companies or famous people. Once you catch up to the perp and your warrant
is correct you catch the criminal and increase your rank at the ACME detective
agency. Your final task ofcourse is to catch Carmen Sandiego herself.
Each place you visit gives you the same options, investigate, use notebook,
visit crime lab and go to airport. These should be pretty self explainetory
once you play the game . Flying around Europe will usually give you a selection
of three cities to which you can fly so you won't have to take too much
trouble figuring out where to go next. Each place also gives you some information
about the country itself which has always been a big part of the series,
it doesn't get annoying though so you will actually learn something while
playing the game.
I quite like the Carmen Sandiego series and there were plenty of other as
well seeing that the game didn't change it's formula for almost ten years.
The series is probably the most wellknown edutainment series there is but
even without that part I'm sure you will have a good time playing the game.
