- Quest for the time bird, the -

The quest for the time bird is based on a comic of the same name. The setting is the world of Akbar and the main characters are Bragon, a warrior, and Roxanna, daughter of the witch princess Mara. Mara has explained to Bragon that there was once an evil god called Ramar who tried to take over this world but was defeated with the help of a book of magic and imprisoned in a Conch. Now in nine days Ramar will be free once more and it's up to you two to stop this from happening.

You start the quest outside Bragon's home and the two of you are equipped with a pair of lopwinds, flying creatures, which greatly help you in your quest as you can bypass dangerous land passes. There are no clues for you to follow so you'll have to do your best and visit all the lands on the map. The map is the main screen of the game and you can simply travel to another part of the world by clicking on that part of the map. Don't forget though that you only have nine days before Ramar is freed so you have limited time in which to travel around. The main objective are to find certain objects: the book of magic, the magical conch, the egg of darkness and the time bird itself.

Gameplay is completely mouse based and you click on items to travel and interact with people and items. While conversing with characters you are presented with several things you can say and one of them is really the one where you will get something good out of it, this can be a bit of a trial and error affair but so is most of the game anyway. Moving about a new picture is overlayed on top of the current one and you can then search for new interesting bits where you can click to advance or interact with it. Some of the items are a bit small so you'll have to do some pixel hunting.

Mm there are some mixed feelings with this game, on the one hand it's quite unique in it's gameplay as far as adventures go and it has nice graphics and a welltold story as well. On the other hand there are some annoying pixel hunting bits and many things are just trial and error which will eventually lead you to the next part. Overall though it's quite a good game, not a classic but still very well worth the time.

Overal rating: 7/10
