Blueprint is one of those
games that have stuck with me simply because it was one of the first games
I ever played on a home system. In it you have to rescue the aptly named
Daisy Damsel who is being chased by Ollie Ogre who wants to gobble her up.
You have to build a contraption from parts lying around in the neighborhood
houses and shoot Ollie before he gets hold of Daisy.
The game screen looks a bit like a maze with houses all over the screen,
they contain the parts you need but some of them will contain bombs which
you have to drop in the bomb pit. Also going into a house you already went
into will also place a bomb on you which you have to get rid of. Luckily
you have a run bar and button which you can use to quickly run to the pit.
The pit is also usefull for Sneaky Pete who will occasionally come out of
the pit and push the start button which will make your contraption fall
apart. He's harmless otherwise but more of a nuisance. The contraption has
to be build before Daisy runs out of time otherwise you will lose a life
but you can begin with the parts you already collected. Later levels will
introduce Fuzzy Wuzzy (nice name) who runs around the neigborhood and can
take you out with a mere touch so be carefull of him.
Blueprint is one of those games from the old time, each level consists of
a single screen and the objective couldn't be simpler. Build the machine
before time runs out and save the girl, once you do go to the next level
and do it all over again. The game also shows the weird imagination that
came with early games as you can see from the names like Ollie Ogre and
Fuzzy Wuzzy given to the monsters in the game. The game is very simple and
it probably won't last you very long but being a monumental game in my early
gaming life I just had to add it to the site. Give it a try if you're feeling
nostalgic.

Blueprint was released for several different systems here are some notes:
| Atari

Released
in 1983.
The machine has to be build from bottom to top which is rather annoying,
you even have to place back parts in the correct house. |
| Atari

This is a lot like the C64 version. |
