- HERO -

H.E.R.O. stands for Helicopter
Emergency Rescue Operation and that is exactly what you, the hero of the
game, does. There has been volcanic activity in the local mines and now
a number of miners are trapped. You go in with your oneman, backpack mounted
helicopter to do a search and rescue mission. There are tons of dangers
that stand in your way like creatures and lava but you must also navigate
the mazelike tunnels and find or blast a way through.
The first couple of levels are meant to introduce you to the game and are
quite easy. You'll come across a wall which you can blow up with one of
your bars of dynamite and maybe a critter or two before you reach the trapped
miner. Creatures can be taken out with a blast from your helmet mounted
laser which uses you main energy pack, there is a limit to your energy as
it slowly depletes during a level so be carefull not to overuse it. The
dynamite you carry is even less is supply and should only be used when you
are trappen by a wall, you can do this by pressing down on the joystick.
Take care to move out of it's blast range or you'll find yourself losing
one of your precious lives. Once you reach the miner you can go on to the
next level where you will find more dangers and long mazes to overcome.
This game is as addictive today as it was back when it was first released.
Working your way to the mazes, dodgeing monsters and blowing up walls to
get to the miners is great fun even though it might not seem like much at
first. The difficulty level starts very low but quickly increases as you
progress to the levels. If your looking for a fun puzzle / action game then
you should get this as soon as you can, you won't regret it.
Overal rating: 9/10
