- F-15 Strike eagle -

In the early days of flight simulators there weren't many games that could actually be classified as a simulator because practically all of them were based on action rather than realistically simulating the aircraft. This was more a hardware problem than anything else because systems simply weren't powerfull enough to get the job done. F-15 strike eagle is an action sim that lets you fly a F-15 in six historical missions that actually took place at one time.

The F-15 was designed to dominate the sky and it uses a variety of weapons and defensive measures to do this. In the game though your defence is mostly based on releasing chaff to use as a decoy for enemy missiles. You primary weapons are your gun for close combat and a set number missiles, most likely sidewinders. Each missions consists of one main target which you must take out but there are also secondary targets which you need to complete the mission. Ofcourse the enemy is not sitting still and there will be plenty of aircraft and SAM's standing between you and victory.

Unfortunately F-15 strike eagle is not nearly complex enough to be called a simulation by today's standards. Back then though machines simply were not powerfull enough to give a fully fledged aircraft simulation. Having only six missions and the fact that the difficulty level isn't that high means the game won't last very long. It isn't simulation enough for diehards and it's nog enough action either so sadly the game falls between genres and it's only worth playing for nostalgic reasons.

Overal rating: 5/10
