- Ninja rabbits -
|
|
I remember the days when
computer and videogames were programmed by two or even a single person,
ofcourse graphics, music, sounds and gameplay weren't always up to standards.
Ninja Rabbits is a game that I'm pretty sure is such a game, in it you play
the part of a walking ninja rabbit who strangely doesn't wear a ninja outfit
at all but rather what looks more like a karate outfit. Apparently you have
to stop the closing of a factory and in your way are loads of thugs, frogmen
and even robots trying to stop you. Using your skills you have to beat them
and complete your mission.
The game is basically a sidescrolling beat'em up though it is extremely
simple, you always walk to the right and sometimes you get to drop down
into a hole or sewer when you are blocked by an obstacle. Enemies come at
you but they always wait for you to dispatch one of them before attacking
which kind of reminds me of those old kungfu movies where there are a dozen
guys surrounding the hero but they never attack at once. Other dangers are
dripping acid and flying balls all of which drain your energy which shows
in the form of a carrot. You can pick up carrots for an extra life but you
cannot increase you energy level. There are only a few attacks available
to you and one of them involves your wooden sword but luckily the enemies
don't carry any weapons whatsoever. There are three levels in total, the
woodlands, the city and the factory itself.
Well I can't really say I enjoyed playing this game at all, gameplay is
extremely limited with so few moves and enemies who are pretty much all
alike. Mindlessly walking to the right and hitting the firing button when
an enemy comes at you isn't my idea of fun. Graphically there isn't anything
to write home about either and there is little to no sound and music. Why
the developers decided to make the hero a rabbit and name the game Ninja
Rabbits while he is actually wearing a karate outfit also confuses me. Once,
or if, you finish the three levels there isn't even an event and not even
a congratulations on screen as you just get send back to the beginning.
Are there any redeeming features at all then? Well sorry but I really can't
find any and I wonder why they bothered to release this game and even make
a sequel!
