- James bond: the stealth affair -
|
|
James bond the stealth affair or operation stealth as the game is also known is an adventure game from Delphine that uses the updated engine from their earlier games. You play as James Bond and your mission is to recover the stealth bomber that was stolen as it shows in the intro. You'll have to use all kind of gadgets to help you solve the case.
The game starts at an airport and the first thing you have to do is try
and get past the security guard waiting at the arrival gate. Luckily the
items in your briefcase's secret compartment allows you to forge a passport
with which you can fool the guard. After getting your luggage and getting
out of the airport your mission will start in earnest in a small village.
You'll have to face countless dangers and solve many puzzles before the
mission is over.
The game uses a point and click interface that is updated from previous
games like future wars, you walk around the screen using the left mouse
button and rightclick to bring up the menu which has the standard commands
like examine, use and operate as well as your inventory. If you want to
use one of the commands on items in your inventory you rightclick the command
instead of leftclicking. This can be quite confusing and I never really
adjusted to the interface getting it wrong constantly. The other thing that
can be annoying is the fact that you always walk in a straight line and
if there's anything blocking your path you get stuck and have to walk back
a bit to walk around the object.
Graphics are nice with 256 color vga graphics but there is not too much
music around in the game. Delphine made some good adventure games in the
past and dispite some annoying bits like the interface, mazes and a few
dead ends its still fairly fun. You would think that with the secret agent
story the James Bond licence would fit well but it never really gets quite
like the movies as the licence was added later and they changed the name
and some small things in the game. Secret agent adventure games are quite
rare and this one is definately worth playing so check it out.
