- Plan 9 from outer space -
|
|
When a movie bills itself
as 'the worst movie of all time' you're not quite sure what to expect of
it. The story for Plan 9 from outer space is crazy like so many B-movies
from the 50's and it involves aliens whose first 8 plans for conquering
earth have failed and now the latest plan has them trying to reanimate corpses.
This game doesn't follow the plot of the movie but instead the director
has lost the reels of the movie and he wants you to find them.
You start the game talking to the director of the movie explaining the situation
and soon after you're off to look for the reels. The game takes part on
the movielot and there are plenty of weird characters hanging around. Later
on you can visit other parts of the city and even other parts of the world.
You'll have to ask and look around the place to find all of the six missing
reels though but the conversations play a minor part compared to the puzzle
solving. Most of the puzzles aren't too hard but there is a limit to the
amount of items you can carry so you will have to drop items at times.
The graphics are ok but the interface take a bit getting used to as it's
not the most userfriendly.
I read that in order to enjoy the game more you have to have seen the
movie which regretfully I have to say I haven't. Despite the fact that
the movie was made in an amateuristic way like cardboard setpieces and
very obvious faults it's things like this that apparently make the movie
fun to watch. If you play the game and if you're wondering why many characters
look like the producer at the start of the game it's because the guy is
modelled after one of the actors who played several roles in the movie.
One of these days I have to watch the movie and see for myself how 'bad'
it really is but as for the game it's only an average adventure game,
if you've seen the movie it might be better though so check it for yourself.
Overal rating: 6/10
